Scope of this article

A comparison of acquisition and upgrade carryover between the main game of the Steam version of Super Robot Wars X and the main game and DLC① of Super Robot Wars 30. This document cross-checks official product information against public walkthroughs and is not a record verified through hands-on play.

If you want to use Hi-Nu Gundam, in Super Robot Wars X you only need to progress through the main story to Chapter 35. In Super Robot Wars 30, you need to own DLC① and progress through the related missions. Even though it is the same unit, what you need to prepare differs, so it is important not to mix in hidden conditions or DLC information from the other game. X join table, 30 official DLC information

This article covers the process of obtaining Hi-Nu Gundam in both games, and how upgrades invested in Nu Gundam beforehand carry over. Hereafter, Hi-Nu Gundam and Nu Gundam are also referred to using their ν notation.

Comparing How X and 30 Handle Acquisition

Item to check Super Robot Wars X Super Robot Wars 30
Required content Main game Main game + DLC①
Join point Chapter 35 main story event DLC mission "The Power Born of Feelings"
Main preparation Story progress up to that chapter Owning the DLC, prerequisite missions, and main story progress
Nu Gundam upgrades Carry over to Hi-Nu Gundam Carry over to Hi-Nu Gundam
Nu Gundam after joining Stays in the squad Stays in the squad

Joining and upgrade carryover were cross-checked against the X join table, 30 mission walkthrough, X upgrade carryover table, and 30 upgrade carryover table, respectively. This means Nu Gundam's upgrades carry over within each game; it does not refer to any feature that brings units or save data developed in X over to 30.

In X, It Joins Through a Chapter 35 Main Story Event

In X, Hi-Nu Gundam is the unit Amuro boards during Chapter 35 「さらなる高みへ」. Walkthroughs for this chapter note that the event where he switches to Hi-Nu Gundam follows whether you earn the SR Point or fail to earn it. You do not need to earn the SR Point to obtain Hi-Nu Gundam. Chapter 35 walkthrough

The hidden acquisition conditions for Nightingale appear around the same time, which makes it easy to confuse the two units' conditions. The secret scenario 「赤い彗星の矜持」, which is linked to things like kills by Amuro and Char and Char's Sazabi defeating specific enemies in Chapter 35, is a condition for Nightingale. You do not need to treat those conditions as requirements for Hi-Nu Gundam. Chapter 35 hidden elements

So if you are only aiming for Hi-Nu Gundam, there is no reason to go back to an earlier save over whether you enter the secret scenario. Proceed with the Chapter 35 main story event first. You only need to check the separate conditions if you also want to secure Nightingale.

In 30, Check Both DLC① Ownership and Mission Progress

The official information for 30 lists Hi-Nu Gundam as an additional unit in DLC①. The Steam product description also states that additional units are obtained by clearing the missions in the corresponding area. Buying the DLC does not add the unit to your hangar right away. Official participation information, Steam DLC①

Below is a progression table listing both the Korean mission names and the names used in Japanese walkthroughs. In 30, progress varies depending on the order in which you choose missions, so it is better to check by mission name and completion status rather than by the serial numbers assigned by walkthrough sites.

Step Mission What to check
Introduction Visitor / 来訪者 Whether the DLC-related prerequisite mission is complete
Prerequisite Light of the Two / 二人の光 Completion of "Visitor" and main story progress such as Kamille joining
Unit acquisition The Power Born of Feelings / 想いが生む力 Completion of "Light of the Two" and "The Land Being Purified," and whether you have obtained Nu Gundam

The detailed progression criteria follow Hwansang-ui Gongryak's guide to these missions. This walkthrough states that "The Power Born of Feelings" appears after clearing "The Land Being Purified," and specifies both completion of the prerequisite DLC missions and possession of Nu Gundam. During the battle in "The Power Born of Feelings," Amuro switches to Hi-Nu Gundam, and the unit becomes available in your squad once you finish the mission.

However, AppMedia's guide to the same mission leaves the detailed main story unlock conditions marked as under investigation. The table above is a progression guideline based on cross-checking public walkthroughs, and it has not been verified as the shortest possible acquisition route for every mission selection order.

If You Own the DLC but the Mission Does Not Appear

Check in this order: whether you own DLC① → whether "Visitor" and "Light of the Two" are complete → main story progress and whether you have obtained Nu Gundam. Even if you have finished the prerequisite missions, the final acquisition mission may not appear yet if your main story progress is insufficient. If you already own a product that includes DLC①, there is no need to buy other DLC just because the mission is missing.

Which 30 Products Include Hi-Nu Gundam

The product name to check for Hi-Nu Gundam is DLC①. Distinguishing between DLC numbers and product names makes it easier to confirm what content you own.

Product owned Includes DLC①?
30 main game only Not included
DLC① standalone This is the content itself
Season Pass Included
Digital Deluxe Edition Included via the Season Pass
Digital Ultimate Edition Included via the Season Pass

This was compiled based on Steam's DLC① product description and main game edition contents. If you already own the Season Pass or one of the editions above, you do not need to buy DLC① separately. Owning the Bonus Mission Pack or the Premium Sound & Data Pack does not by itself mean you own DLC①, so check the product names separately.

Is It OK to Upgrade Nu Gundam While Waiting for Hi-Nu?

In both X and 30, upgrades carry over from Nu Gundam to Hi-Nu Gundam. Nu Gundam also stays in the squad after Hi-Nu joins. If you upgrade Nu Gundam in advance, you reduce the burden of having to invest again from scratch when Hi-Nu arrives. X upgrade carryover, 30 upgrade carryover

Given this, if you keep deploying Amuro while waiting for Hi-Nu Gundam, there is no need to hold off on all of Nu Gundam's upgrades. It makes sense to invest as much as you need for current battles and prepare for the unit's arrival. However, the fact that upgrades carry over is not a reason to pour in all the funds meant for your other main units.

Having both units remain also matters for your lineup. Since you can secure Hi-Nu, if it is your favorite, while also keeping Nu Gundam, you can revisit both units' pilots and your sortie lineup after it joins. Unit upgrade carryover and a pilot's weapon usage conditions are separate matters, so when placing a different pilot in either unit, also check the weapon conditions in the game.

Hi-Nu Gundam Weapon Setup and Performance Specs Compared (X vs 30)

After joining, Hi-Nu Gundam's weapon loadout faithfully reflects the setting of the original novel version, and it is designed to be a step above the regular Nu Gundam in range, attack power, and terrain adaptation.

Comparison item Super Robot Wars X (Main story Chapter 35) Super Robot Wars 30 (DLC① mission)
Unit size / Movement M / 7 spaces M / 7 spaces
Base terrain adaptation Air A · Land A · Sea B · Space S Air A · Land A · Sea B · Space S
Custom Bonus (5 stages) Newtype-only weapon attack +50 × Newtype level (+450 at NT L9) Newtype-only weapon attack +50 × Newtype level (+450 at NT L9)
Special abilities I-Field (reduces beam damage), Psycoframe (activates at Will 130) I-Field (reduces beam damage), Psycoframe (activates at Will 130)
Main weapon: Fin Funnels Range 2~8, EN-consuming, cannot be used after moving Range 2~8, requires Will 115, eligible for P weapon modifier
Finisher: Hyper Mega Bazooka Launcher Requires Will 140, consumes 70 EN, range 1~8 (includes MAP weapon) Requires Will 140, consumes 70 EN, range 2~8, barrier piercing, ignores size modifier

When Amuro Ray's unique ability "Newtype L9" grows to its maximum, the 5-stage Custom Bonus sharply raises the attack power of the Fin Funnels and the finisher weapon by +450 across the board, and the Funnels' range is extended by +2 spaces or more, allowing one-sided long-range sniping from outside the enemy's counterattack range. In 30, combining this with hangar bonuses from the AOS update and enhancement parts (such as T-IGNITION) pushes the Hyper Mega Bazooka Launcher's attack power past 9,000, making it an effective boss killer.

You can find more detail on Hi-Nu Gundam's specific spec increases over the original Nu Gundam and the differences in weapon mechanics in the Nu Gundam comparison across all appearances.

Final Checklist Before Acquisition

  • If you are playing X: Check your progress through the Chapter 35 main story. Keep the conditions for Hi-Nu Gundam and Nightingale separate.
  • If you are playing 30: Check DLC① ownership, the prerequisite missions, and main story progress together. Owning the product and obtaining the unit are different steps.
  • If you are playing Y: You need the expansion pack rather than the main game; check the dedicated mission "The Path of Humanity" and the conditions for Nightingale joining at the same time in the Hi-Nu Gundam guide for the Y expansion pack.
  • If you are developing Nu Gundam: Upgrades carry over 100% to Hi-Nu Gundam and the original Nu Gundam also remains in the hangar, so you can safely use Nu Gundam as a main unit until Hi-Nu joins.
