Units and Map Icons by Series

The list starts with the Mazinger series and groups participating series by franchise. Of the four newcomers, Gundam X and Turn A Gundam are under Heisei Gundam, Braiger under Other super robot works, and Xabungle under Other works. The TV and movie versions and sequels of one series are separate groups, so if you cannot find the unit you are looking for, check the neighboring groups of the same series. Transformed and combined forms are grouped on the base unit's card. Clicking a unit name or image takes you to this site's unit article, and clicking a pilot name takes you to the pilot article (where one exists).

To find your favorite series in スーパーロボット大戦α外伝, start by separating the official list of participating series from the four series that newly joined in this game. The list below is not just a table of obtainable allies. It is organized by series, grouping enemies, bosses, ships, and transformed and combined forms so you can check each unit's appearance and name together.

Combat and Series Scope in α外伝

α外伝 is a simulation RPG released by Banpresto for the PlayStation. The official website at the time of release introduced its setting as the world a few months after "α". The story begins in December of New Era 187, a few months after the end of the great war later called the Balmar War: the Titans, who have taken control of the military, are hiding the prediction that a shockwave produced in the final operation of that war will reach Earth's sphere half a year later. The participating series list on the same page has 23 series, and the four newcomers among them are Galaxy Cyclone Braiger, After War Gundam X, Turn A Gundam, and Combat Mecha Xabungle. Titles from the same series are also listed separately, such as Mazinger Z, Great Mazinger, and the Mazinger movie series, or Super Dimension Fortress Macross, the movie Do You Remember Love?, and Macross Plus.

Apart from this list, the official website introduced the four Masou Kishin, starting with the Cybaster, and the ゲシュペンストMkⅡ piloted by Ryusei, and its battle scene introduction showed the Mazinkaiser's Fire Blaster. In the list, the Mazinkaiser is in the Mazinkaiser group of the Mazinger series, and the Cybaster, Granveil, and Zamzeed are in the Masou Kishin group of Banpresto Original. There are two systems worth knowing when reading the list. The official website explained that the difficulty changes between Easy, Normal, and Hard according to a skill level that rises with how you play, and that hidden units and characters can be obtained on Hard. A new "Bazaar" was also added, where robots and enhancement parts are bought and sold with Blue Stones. So not every unit in the list joins under the same conditions. The number of series at the top of the list differs from the official count of participating series. This site groups units by the classification of their original works, so even within the same franchise, groups split according to the original work each unit belongs to.
