Units and Map Icons by Series

The list starts with the Mazinger series and groups participating series by franchise. As mentioned above, the TV, movie, and related titles of one series are separate groups, so if you cannot find the unit you are looking for, check the neighboring groups of the same series. Transformed and combined forms are grouped on the base unit's card. Clicking a unit name or image takes you to this site's unit article, and clicking a pilot name takes you to the pilot article (where one exists).

To find your favorite series in 第2次スーパーロボット大戦α, it helps to know first how the official list of participating series differs from the groups in the list below. The list below is not just a table of obtainable allies. It is organized by series, grouping enemies, bosses, ships, and transformed and combined forms so you can check each unit's appearance and name together.

Combat and Series Scope in 第2次α

第2次α is a simulation RPG released by Banpresto for the PlayStation 2, continuing the story of "スーパーロボット大戦α" and "α外伝". The official website opened before release introduced the series appearing as original works as 21 series, listing the Banpresto original characters separately. Of these, it marked four as first appearances: Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam, The King of Braves GaoGaiGar, Brain Powerd, and Kotetsu Jeeg. Official website appearing series

The new system the official website put front and center is the squad. Up to four units are formed into one squad, the player moves only the squad leader's unit, and a squad cannot be formed if the total of the cost set for each unit exceeds the limit. Enemies also appear in squads. The list below shows each unit on its own card, not squads. Squad formation information

The number of series at the top of the list is higher than the official count of participating series (21) because the works that units such as the Hi-Nu Gundam (Beltorchika's Children), the MP Nu Gundam (M-MSV), and the Mazinkaiser belong to are grouped separately, and Banpresto Original is divided into Alpha Series Original, the ATX Team, and others. Conversely, Getter Robo and Getter Robo G, which the official list counts separately, form one group in the list.

The official website introduced four protagonists, Kusuha and Sanger (super type) and Arad and アイビス (real type), along with their units: the 龍人機, グルンガスト参式, ヒュッケバインMk-Ⅲ, and アルテリオン. The four units are in the Banpresto Original > Super Robot Wars Alpha Series Original group of the list, and the アルテリオン is split into two cards, DF and CF. Original protagonist units

Some units change both their stats and their usable weapons when equipment is swapped. As examples, the official website gave the equipment swap system turning the Gundam Mk-II into the スーパーガンダム by attaching the Gディフェンサー, and the Kotetsu Jeeg's own system that lets it switch to the パーンサロイド when the ビッグシューター is within 5 squares. In the list, the Gundam Mk-II and スーパーガンダム, and the Kotetsu Jeeg and ジーグ・パーンサロイド, are each separate cards. Equipment swap example · Kotetsu Jeeg's system
