Sources checked 2026-10-16To find your favorite series in スーパーロボット大戦α, start by looking at how the 31-series list announced by Banpresto divides and counts the titles. The list below is not just a table of obtainable allies. It is organized by series, grouping enemies, bosses, ships, and transformed and combined forms so you can check each unit's appearance and name together.
Combat and Series Scope in α
スーパーロボット大戦α is a simulation RPG released by Banpresto for the PlayStation. Before release, the official Banpresto website introduced its participating series as 31 series and called it the most in the series. The list of appearing series splits Gundam into 10 titles, from Mobile Suit Gundam through Mobile Suit Gundam Wing and Endless Waltz; Mazinger into Mazinger Z, Great Mazinger, and the Mazinger movie series; and Getter Robo into Getter Robo, Getter Robo G, and Shin Getter Robo (the original manga). On the Banpresto Original side, Masou Kishin and Super Robot Wars SRX (超機大戦SRX) are counted as one title each. List of appearing series
The same introduction notes that the Super Dimension Fortress Macross series makes its first appearance in this game. It is based on the story of the movie Do You Remember Love?, with mecha from the TV series Super Dimension Fortress Macross and Macross Plus added. Neon Genesis Evangelion was introduced as bringing in even characters that appear only in the movies, such as the EVA量産機. In addition, Super Electromagnetic Machine Voltes V, which had previously appeared only in Shin Super Robot Wars, and Mobile Suit Victory Gundam, returning after about 4 years, are also on the list. Official introduction
Of the new features named in the official additional information, the one you need for reading the list is separation and combination. It states that transformations, combinations, and separations closer to the original works were added, such as Mazinger Z's Pilder separating and Getter Robo splitting into three aircraft. The "Double Branch System," in which the story branches by the player's choices even in the middle of a scenario, and a quarter-view battle map seen diagonally from above were also introduced as new features. Additional information
The groups in the list do not match the official list one to one. Banpresto Original is split into Alpha Series Original, Masou Kishin, OG, and SRX Project, while Getter Robo and Getter Robo G form one group. So the number of series at the top of the list is not the same as 31.
Platforms and the Port
- PlayStation version (original): According to the official Super Robot Wars website, it was released on May 25, 2000. The names and images in the list below are based on this version. Official lineup
- Dreamcast version (port): Released on August 30, 2001 under the title 「スーパーロボット大戦α for Dreamcast」. Banpresto announced that it was postponing the release to this date from the originally planned July 26, 2001. Release-date postponement notice
Banpresto's introduction of the Dreamcast version states that the battle scenes were newly made with 3D polygons, and that the opening movie and the character art in conversation scenes were newly drawn. A combination attack system not in the PlayStation version, a new ending route, and scenario demo movies were added, and Kikou Busou G Breaker (機甲武装Gブレイカー) joined the participating series as a newcomer. Because this list is based on the PlayStation version, units added in the Dreamcast version are not included. Dreamcast version introduction
The game has no additional downloadable content, so no unit in the list carries an additional-content badge.
