Sources checked 2026-09-27Super Robot Wars 30 (Steam · PS4 · Switch / released October 2021) is a landmark culmination title released worldwide at the same time to celebrate the series' 30th anniversary, following the birth of the first Super Robot Wars in 1991.
It launched simultaneously around the world, including on PC (Steam). This document draws on the site's archive materials and verified official records to cover the participating series and new factions, the core systems of combat and unit growth, recommended main units and how to use their pilots, the conditions for obtaining hidden units, and the game's historical value as a 30th anniversary title.

Core Systems: Self-Directed Advance and Mothership-Centered Growth
This game established a bold progression style and force-strengthening system that breaks the mold of previous Super Robot Wars titles.
1. Tactical Area Select
A non-linear progression system where the player explores the world map directly and freely chooses missions:
- Key Mission: Core scenarios that must be cleared to advance the main story.
- Area Missions & Ship Missions: Made up of resolving conflicts in each region, recruiting new allies, side scenarios, conversation events between pilots, and training missions, which can be tackled in any order.
- Relic Mission: High-difficulty challenge missions that reward powerful parts and large amounts of funds when cleared.
- To recruit the units you want first, you can travel freely around the world, including North America, South America, Asia, and Europe, and design your own order for building your force.
2. Dreistrega AOS Update
A battleship growth system for upgrading the all-purpose battleship "Dreistrega," the force's mothership and command base:
- Invest MxP (Mission Points) awarded for clearing missions to upgrade 18 sub-items across 6 major facilities, such as the Bridge, Communications Room, Main Engine, Melee Tactics Room, and Defense Hangar, up to a maximum of 8 levels.
- Each facility upgrade not only raises the Dreistrega's own stats, but also grants permanent passive buffs to the whole force, such as "increased EXP, funds, and Will gained by all allied units," "additional part slots," and "increased max SP."
- Once research is maxed out, the Dreistrega becomes a colossal decisive-battle fortress stronger than any boss on the map.
3. Auto Battle (AUTO Mode) and Convenience Features
An auto battle system was included to suit the various play styles of handheld and PC players:
- AUTO mode can be turned on at any time during battle with a single button, and AI behavior settings such as "Assault," "Defensive," "Evasive," and "Standard" can be set for each unit.
- In repeatable missions that can be taken again after clearing a map (Front Line Missions), funds and MxP can be farmed easily, drastically reducing the fatigue of raising units.
4. Supporter Commands and the ExC Bank System
Supporting characters who do not sortie directly in battle are registered as "Supporters" and assist with tactics:
- By spending S-SP (Supporter SP) that accumulates each turn, you can instantly trigger powerful strategic effects such as raising the whole force's Will, a 1.2x damage buff, an immediate extra action, and SP recovery.
- Extra Action (ExC) points are also linked not only to the existing boost damage but to the skill bank, making it possible to take 4–5 or more consecutive actions in a single turn.

The Historical Value and Significance of the 30th Anniversary Culmination
Super Robot Wars 30 is a work that fully reinterprets the conventions of the traditional turn-based simulation RPG built up over the years to meet the expectations of modern players:
- The greatest platform freedom in series history: By providing a smooth play environment running at 4K high resolution and 60fps on PC through Steam, it brought in a large number of new fans worldwide.
- The achievement of an open, choice-based scenario: Moving away from one-way stories, "Tactical Area Select" lets players meet and raise the protagonists of the anime series they want first, maximizing the value of replaying SRW.
- Extensive post-launch support and DLC lineup: By pulling off bold collaborations beyond the usual licensed titles, such as Sakura Wars, Voltes V, Shinkalion, and Ultraman, it proved the limitless potential for expansion of the Super Robot Wars franchise.
Super Robot Wars 30 is both a celebration bringing together the path walked with fans over the past 30 years and a masterpiece that set a new benchmark for where the next generation of the Super Robot Wars series should go.
